Nestcape-urban mobility
The Nestcape is a urban public space associated with a night transportation service called X-press, it was a working group project of the services design course, we designed this service to promote the use of the night transport service among citizens, to reduce night traffic and to make a safer city . The street furniture is designed in a way that encourages conviviality among users and encourages them to live in that space as a meeting point. The whole environment is designed in a modular fashion so as to displace the points in the city widely depending on the availability of space. The perimeters’ definition is not given by walls, but by the change of the pattern on the ground that delimits and defines the area.
The X-press night transportation service is based on citizens’ voluntary work and on a mapping system that registers requests from the different point in the city, and calculates best routes to collect users. This service is halfway between the bus and the taxi services. Through a previous registration citizens can drive the vehicles provided by the municipality, the volunteers of the service can have access to special benefits provided by the Municipality such as parking credits or other services.
